Thane to face 24-hour water supply disruption on July 1 and 2

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has announced that water supply will be disrupted in several parts of Thane city for a period of 24 hours, starting from Wednesday, July 1, 2026. According to civic officials, the scheduled water cut will begin at 9:00 AM on Wednesday and will continue until 9:00 AM on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
The official announcement regarding the planned disruption was made on Monday, June 29, 2026. The temporary disruption in the city's water supply is being carried out following a scheduled shutdown by the STEM Authority.
This 24-hour shutdown has been planned on the specific directions of the Water Resources Department. The primary objective of this civic initiative is to manage the city's overall water supply and to proactively address the possibility of future water shortages in the region.
As a direct result of the upcoming shutdown, residents living in the affected areas of Thane will face a temporary water cut. To mitigate the impact of this disruption, the Thane Municipal Corporation has issued an appeal to local residents, strongly advising them to store a sufficient amount of water in advance of the scheduled cut.
The coordination of this water supply management effort involves the Thane Municipal Corporation, the STEM Authority, and the Water Resources Department. These public bodies are working in tandem to oversee the shutdown process and manage the local distribution network.
With the water supply set to be halted for a full day, authorities have emphasized the importance of advance preparation. Local residents are encouraged to secure their necessary water storage before the 9:00 AM start time on Wednesday, July 1. Normal water supply is expected to resume after the shutdown concludes at 9:00 AM on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
