Three booked for assaulting fitness trainer in Bandra West road rage

A 39-year-old fitness trainer was allegedly assaulted and his vehicle damaged in a road rage incident in Bandra West late on Saturday. The assault took place near Bandra Talao on SV Road while Arjunjit Garewal was driving home to Mahim with his wife, Bhakti.
According to the police complaint, the incident began around midnight when Garewal overtook a Mahindra XUV on SV Road near Sahil Hotel after leaving his parents' house in Juhu. The maneuver reportedly angered the XUV driver, who drove parallel to Garewal's Thar SUV, shouting abuses and making threatening gestures. Between six and seven people were inside the XUV at the time.
Garewal attempted to ignore the group and continued driving, but the XUV driver repeatedly overtook his vehicle three to four times in an effort to confront him. Near Bandra Talao, the XUV cut ahead of Garewal's SUV and forced it to a stop.
A man wearing a white shirt stepped out of the XUV, hurled abuses at Garewal, and demanded that he exit his car. When Garewal stepped out, the man allegedly began kicking and punching him. Moments later, two men arrived on two-wheelers and joined the assault, beating and abusing the fitness trainer.
One of the attackers attempted to strike Garewal with a steel baseball bat, which Garewal managed to block using his steel bangle, or kada. Another man produced a hockey stick and smashed the windows of the Thar SUV. The flying glass caused injuries to Garewal's wife, who was still seated inside the vehicle before stepping out in panic.
Following the attack, the suspects fled the location in the XUV. Garewal managed to note down the registration number of the vehicle and later provided dashcam footage of the incident to the authorities.
On Sunday, the Bandra police registered a case against three unidentified individuals based on Garewal's complaint. The charges include voluntarily causing hurt under Section 115(2) and criminal intimidation under Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with other relevant legal provisions.
