Three Malad East Trekkers Rescued From Malanggad Hill After Social Media Inspired Trek

Three young men from Malad East were rescued late Sunday night after getting stranded on the steep, difficult terrain of the Mama-Bhanja hill section of Malanggad in Ambernath. The rescue operation was launched after the trio lost their way in the dark during their descent from the hill.

The rescued trekkers have been identified as 24-year-old Shivam Singh, 25-year-old Mangesh Prajapati, and Guruprasad Vishwakarma. All three of the rescued individuals are residents of the Malad East suburb in Mumbai.

According to officials from the Hill Line police department, the group had decided to venture to the Malanggad hill after watching social media reels that showcased the trek. Inspired by the videos they saw online, the three men traveled to the Ambernath area near Kalyan to attempt the climb themselves.

While the climb up the hill was completed, the group encountered severe difficulties during their return journey. As darkness set in on Sunday evening, the trio lost their bearings on the descent. They found themselves unable to identify the correct route down the rugged, unfamiliar terrain, ultimately becoming trapped on a steep, rocky patch of the hill.

Recognizing that they were lost and unable to safely navigate the steep slopes on their own, the stranded trekkers contacted the authorities to alert them of their situation.

Following the distress call, the district disaster management cell immediately mobilized emergency resources and coordinated a joint rescue effort. The late-night rescue mission involved personnel from the Hill Line police, the Ambernath fire brigade, and local villagers who were familiar with the local geography.

The rescue teams navigated the challenging Mama-Bhanja hill section, which is widely known for its highly difficult and rugged terrain, to locate the stranded group. The rescue teams successfully reached the three young men in the dark and brought them back to safety.
