Three Minor Girls Drown in Jasai Village Pond in Navi Mumbai

Three minor girls, including two young sisters, tragically drowned on Saturday evening while playing in a pond in Jasai village of Uran taluka, Navi Mumbai. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 pm when the children allegedly ventured into a deeper section of the water.

The deceased children have been identified by authorities as eight-year-old Rehanakhatun Ramzan Ali, her seven-year-old sister Ravina Parveen Ramzan Ali, and their 12-year-old neighbour, Soumya Kanhaiya Kumar. All three of the victims lived in a nearby labour settlement located close to the pond.

According to officials from the Uran police station, the three girls had gone to the pond to play. While they were playing in the water, they reportedly moved into a deeper section of the pond and began to struggle.

Local residents rushed to the spot immediately after learning about the incident. The residents managed to pull the three young girls out of the water and rushed them to a hospital. However, medical professionals at the hospital declared them dead upon arrival.

Following the tragic incident, the Uran police registered an accidental death report. The case has been filed under Section 194, which pertains to unnatural death, of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The registration of the report was based on a formal complaint lodged by Sakina Ramzan Ali Mansoori, who is the mother of the two deceased sisters, Rehanakhatun and Ravina.

The Uran police stated that their preliminary inquiries suggest the three girls accidentally drowned while they were playing in the pond. The bodies of the victims have been sent to a medical facility for a post-mortem examination. Officials noted that the exact cause of death will be officially confirmed once the autopsy report is received.
