Titwala Police Book Builder For Allegedly Plotting To Kill Partner Over Land Dispute
The Titwala Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against an Ulhasnagar-based builder, Naveen Hemandas Jaiswani, for allegedly hiring contract killers for Rs 5 lakh to assault and kill his former business partner, Shankarlal Vardichand Soni, over a long-running land dispute in Kalyan.
The complainant, Soni, who is a partner in Shree Balaji Developers, approached the police after an audio recording of a WhatsApp call surfaced, revealing the alleged conspiracy. Jaiswani is currently absconding, and the police have launched a search to arrest him.
According to the police, the dispute between the two real estate developers involves a 69-guntha land deal worth crores of rupees. Soni and the Jaiswani family had been associated in the construction business for several years. However, their relationship deteriorated after Soni handed over gold to Jaiswani as part of the land transaction but did not receive possession of the property or the return of his gold.
The financial dispute escalated, leading to multiple disagreements. Soni alleged that instead of resolving the matter legally, Jaiswani and his associates planned to eliminate him.
The alleged conspiracy came to light after a WhatsApp call on May 29, 2026. During the call, Jaiswani allegedly discussed hiring Bhagwan Bhalerao and Bahadur Karautiya to break Soni's hands and legs and kill him, arranging a contract of Rs 5 lakh for the attack.
The conversation was recorded, and Soni's associate, Vishal Gupta, alerted him about the audio clip. Soni subsequently submitted the recording, along with a transcript and other supporting material, to the police as evidence. Soni stated that he and his family are now living in constant fear for their safety.
Senior Police Inspector Mukesh Dhage of the Titwala Police Station confirmed that the FIR has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Dhage stated that the police are verifying the authenticity of the audio recording and other digital evidence while actively searching for the absconding accused.
