Traffic Rules Issued for Coastal Road and Bandra-Worli Sea Link Route

The Mumbai Traffic Police have issued detailed traffic guidelines, speed limits, and vehicle restrictions for the connected route spanning the Dharmaveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Mumbai Coastal Road and the Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link, running between Marine Drive and the Bandra Toll Plaza in Bandra.

The route has been opened for vehicular movement in both southbound and northbound directions through the Connector Bridge.

For southbound commuters heading toward Marine Drive, designated entry points include the Bandra Toll Plaza, J.K. Kapoor Circle Underpass, Swa. Bindu Madhav Thackeray Junction, Barrister Rajni Patel Junction (Lotus Junction), Vatsalabai Desai Junction (Haji Ali Junction), and Amarsons Garden. Southbound exit points have been established at Worli Sea Link Gate 2, Lotus Junction, Haji Ali Junction, Amarsons Garden, and Marine Drive via Princess Street Bridge.

Northbound traffic travelling toward Bandra can enter at Marine Drive (Princess Street Bridge), Amarsons Garden, Haji Ali Junction, Lotus Junction, Swa. Bindu Madhav Thackeray Junction, and J.K. Kapoor Circle Underpass. Northbound exits are positioned at Amarsons Garden, Haji Ali Junction, Lotus Junction, Swa. Bindu Madhav Thackeray Junction, Worli Sea Link Gate 6, and the Bandra Toll Plaza.

Police have set a maximum speed limit of 80 kmph on straight sections of the road. The speed limit is reduced to 60 kmph inside tunnels and 40 kmph along turning points and road mergers.

Strict vehicle restrictions are in effect along the entire corridor. Prohibited vehicles include two-wheelers, bicycles, mopeds, adapted vehicles, scooters (including those with sidecars), and all types of three-wheelers. Goods carriers, tempos, trucks, trailers, mixers, tractors, and heavy vehicles are barred from entry, though BEST buses and passenger-carrying vehicles are permitted. Pedestrians and animal-drawn carts, tangas, hand carts, and bullock carts are also prohibited.

Authorities have also barred specific activities along the stretch. Stopping or halting vehicles, picking up or dropping off passengers—with an exception for BEST buses—and any photography or video recording are strictly prohibited on the road.
