MIRA-BHAYANDAR — A large tree collapsed near the Gold Nest Complex in Ward No. 10 of Mira-Bhayandar on Thursday morning, blocking a road and damaging nearby shops amid heavy monsoon rainfall. No injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred as heavy rains continued to impact citizens in the area.
The tree-fall incident near the Gold Nest Complex, which is located in Ward No. 10 of Mira-Bhayandar, was captured on camera in a video shared by Jayprakash Singh. The visuals from the video further showed that the large tree suddenly crashed onto the road due to the heavy rain. The fallen tree blocked the entire road, halting movement, while damaging the roofs of nearby shops.
The collapse in Mira-Bhayandar was one of three tree-collapse incidents reported in the Thane and Mumbai areas on Thursday morning. These incidents came as parts of the region received heavy rainfall, continuing the monsoon miseries for local citizens who are dealing with the impact of the wet weather.
In another incident on Thursday, a large tree fell on an auto-rickshaw parked on Military Road in Marol. A video shared by NextMinuteNews on its X account, formerly Twitter, showed the massive tree falling onto the parked auto-rickshaw and crushing it completely. Since there was no one inside the auto-rickshaw, no injuries were reported from the Marol incident.
The massive tree on Military Road blocked the road in both directions, bringing vehicular movement in the area to a complete halt. Several people were seen struggling to cross the road due to the uprooted tree.
These two collapses followed an earlier tree-uprooting incident near the Churchgate station. In the wee hours of Thursday, a tree was uprooted in front of Sydenham College.
