Trucker Blocks Samruddhi Expressway Following Enforcement Action

A trailer driver allegedly blocked highway lanes on the Mumbai-bound Samruddhi Expressway following enforcement action, triggering fresh concerns over growing discontent among truck drivers across Maharashtra.

Transport leader Bal Malkit Singh warned the state government not to let the situation escalate. Singh, who serves as Advisor and Former President of the All India Motor Transport Congress, stated that the highway blockade should not be dismissed as a mere law-and-order issue.

Singh described the incident as an early warning signal of mounting frustration among truck drivers and transport operators. The blockade took place on the Samruddhi Expressway after authorities carried out enforcement action against the trailer driver.

Industry representatives noted that the action on the expressway reflects broader simmering resentment within Maharashtra's driver community, calling on the state government to address the underlying issues facing transport operators.
