Twelve arrested after Nashik family is assaulted at Bhavli Dam in Igatpuri

The Igatpuri Police have arrested 12 suspects following the harassment and violent assault of a tourist family from Nashik at Bhavli Dam in Igatpuri. The incident, which occurred on a Sunday approximately eight days prior, took place near a waterfall at the dam and has drawn widespread attention after video footage of the attack surfaced on social media.
The newly emerged video shows the 44-year-old woman from the visiting family being beaten by the accused. According to local claims, the physical attack stemmed from an initial argument. The footage also shows two men on a motorcycle chasing the family's car and striking the vehicle with a rod as they attempted to flee.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the victim, she was visiting the waterfall near the dam with her husband, son, daughter, brother-in-law, and two nephews. The confrontation began when two youths whistled at her and started harassing her.
When the family intervened to stop the harassment, the altercation quickly escalated. The accused individuals allegedly tore the woman’s clothes and snatched her mobile phone. When her husband tried to retrieve the phone, the suspects snatched his 20-gram gold chain and assaulted him.
Following the filing of the official complaint, the Igatpuri Police registered a case and initially arrested nine suspects. The number of arrests has since increased to 12.
The police identified nine of the arrested men as Vishal Bhatate, 27; Aniket Manvedhe, 24; Aniruddha Bhagde, 25; Sagar alias Lokesh Gite, 22; Vinod Borade, 26; Sachin Adole, 29; Arjun Adole, 25; Devidas Bhagat, 25; and Ajay Dalbhagat, 20.
An investigation is currently ongoing to locate the remaining suspects. A police official confirmed that some of the accused are still absconding, and law enforcement is actively searching for them as well as the remaining vehicles used during the commission of the crime.
