Two Arrested After 19-Year-Old Is Stabbed During Rap Practice in Mankhurd

A 19-year-old student was stabbed in the neck and chin and left critically injured during a rap practice session at Chikuwadi Ground in Mankhurd on Monday. The Mankhurd police have arrested two individuals and booked four people in connection with the attempted murder.

The victim, identified as 19-year-old Shiva Kashyap, is a resident of Mandala in Mankhurd and an HSC student at Oriental College in Sanpada. Kashyap was practising rap music at the ground with his friend, Vikas Vishwakarma, when the violent confrontation occurred.

According to the police, another group comprising Uday Mande, Riyan Shaikh, and others was also practising rap at the same ground. Kashyap and Vishwakarma approached the group to inquire about their practice, but the interaction quickly turned hostile.

Police said the second group became angry and began verbally abusing the duo before physically assaulting them. Mande allegedly pulled out a knife and aimed for Kashyap's neck. As Kashyap moved to evade the attack, the strike landed near his chin.

Mande allegedly attempted to stab Kashyap in the chest a second time. Kashyap grabbed the knife with his hands to defend himself, sustaining further injuries in the process.

The violence escalated when another accused, Rehan Shaikh, allegedly removed his belt and hit both Kashyap and Vishwakarma. Two other unidentified accused then joined in the attack, beating the victims with a wooden plank.

The assault ended after members of the public began gathering at the scene upon hearing the victims' cries for help, forcing the attackers to flee.

The Mankhurd police have registered a case under Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Police have arrested two of the accused, identified as Uday Mande and Riyan Shaikh, in connection with the assault. Kashyap remains in critical condition.
