Two Dead, 6-8 Trapped in Chirag Nagar Landslide at Kurla West

A landslide struck Gaushiya Chawl in Chirag Nagar, near Rathod Medical in Kurla West, early Wednesday, August 12, leaving two people dead and two others injured. Between six and eight people are currently feared trapped under the debris at the site in Mumbai.

The incident occurred during the early hours of the morning, with the Mumbai Fire Brigade receiving the initial emergency report at around 3:48 a.m. Responding to the severity of the collapse, the Mumbai Fire Brigade officially declared the incident a Level-II emergency at 4:32 a.m.

Emergency services quickly moved to the location in Kurla West to initiate rescue efforts. Two suspected dead bodies were recovered from the site and sent to a hospital. Two injured individuals were successfully rescued from the rubble and shifted to Kurla Bhabha Hospital for treatment.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing at Gaushiya Chawl as responders work to reach the six to eight individuals believed to be trapped beneath the fallen material.

The operation involves joint efforts from multiple civic and emergency authorities. Teams from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, the National Disaster Response Force, the police, and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are actively working on-site to execute the rescue mission.
