Two Leopards Spotted Along Pipeline in Bhandup Complex Forest Area
A viral video circulating online has captured two leopards reportedly spotted in the Bhandup Complex Forest area of Mumbai, raising safety concerns among nearby residents and commuters.
According to reports, the video was recorded from a considerable distance to raise awareness about wildlife activity in the area. The visuals show what appear to be two leopards sitting atop a large pipeline, while the individual filming maintains a safe distance from the wild animals.
The footage has circulated alongside warnings urging the public to exercise caution if they encounter a leopard or any other wild animal. Citizens are advised not to approach, chase, follow, crowd, or attempt to photograph or record wild animals from a close range.
The advisory circulating with the video further cautions people against sharing real-time sightings, routes, or the exact location of the animals, warning that publicising such details could put both the community and the wildlife in danger. Anyone who spots a wild animal is asked to keep a safe distance and report the sighting immediately to the Forest Department or other concerned authorities.
The video has drawn significant attention online, with several users expressing concern for commuters and travellers moving through the Bhandup forest vicinity and calling on people to stay alert.
The development follows a separate wildlife sighting in Mumbai's Powai area in June this year, when a leopard entered the IIT-Bombay campus. During that incident, closed-circuit television cameras captured the leopard stalking and attacking a community dog before dragging it into nearby bushes. No students, faculty members, or staff members were injured, and campus authorities responded by heightening vigilance and closely monitoring the area.
