Two Palghar college staffers suspended after student forced to perform namaz

A female medical student was allegedly subjected to ragging and forced to perform namaz at a private medical college hostel in Posheri village of Wada taluka, located in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. The incident, which took place on Sunday night, has resulted in the suspension of two college staffers.

Following the incident, the administration of the private medical college took disciplinary action by suspending a hostel warden and a teacher. The names of the student and the suspended staff members have not been released.

The incident caused sudden tension on the college campus. It also drew strong protests from right-wing groups, who gathered at the institute to demonstrate against the alleged ragging.

In response to the growing tension and protests, police personnel were deployed to the campus in Posheri village to maintain law and order and prevent any further disturbance.

The police registered a First Information Report on Monday night. According to initial findings from the police, the female student was subjected to ragging in the hostel before being forced to perform the religious prayer.

The authorities are currently monitoring the campus to ensure peace is maintained. Further investigation into the incident is being conducted by the local police.
