Two Panvel Men Held in Mankhurd with Fake CBI Card and Lighter Pistol

The Mankhurd police have arrested two men from Panvel after allegedly catching them consuming narcotic substances at Lallubhai Compound in Mankhurd on Friday night. During the operation, police officers also seized a lighter pistol and a fake Central Bureau of Investigation identity card from the possession of one of the accused.
The arrested individuals have been identified by the police as 20-year-old Devendra Singh Raghuvir Singh Chundawat, a resident of Dhakta Khanda village in Panvel, and 24-year-old Gokul Piram Kshatriya, a resident of Karanjade, Panvel.
According to the First Information Report registered in the case, police constable Dhiraj Yashwant Patil, 45, who is attached to the Mankhurd police station, was out on patrol duty at around 9.30 pm on August 21. While patrolling, Patil received specific information from a confidential informant stating that two individuals were consuming narcotic substances near the Paanch Nall area within Lallubhai Compound.
Acting on the tip-off, a team from the Mankhurd police station moved to the location, laid a trap, and apprehended both suspects at the spot. The personnel then conducted a formal search of the two individuals under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
During the search, the police team allegedly discovered a lighter pistol concealed inside Chundawat's trousers around his waist. Officers also searched his trouser pocket and recovered a fake identity card designating him as an Inspector with the CBI.
Following the seizure, both Chundawat and Kshatriya were taken into custody and brought to the Mankhurd police station for further legal action. The police have registered a case against the duo under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act as well as the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation into the case is currently underway.
