Two unidentified men were killed in a hit-and-run accident on Sunday night after being run over by an unidentified speeding vehicle on the Panvel–JNPT Road near the Jambhulpada junction in Navi Mumbai. The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 PM while the two victims were attempting to cross the busy road.
Following the collision, the driver of the offending vehicle fled the scene immediately. According to the police, the driver did not stop to assist the critically injured victims or report the accident to the authorities before driving away.
Passersby and emergency responders rushed the two critically injured men to the MGM Hospital in Kamothe. However, medical professionals at the hospital declared both victims dead before any treatment could be administered.
The Panvel City Police have registered a case regarding the incident and have launched an active investigation to trace the absconding motorist and identify the two deceased men.
Identifying the victims has presented a significant challenge for the investigators. No identification documents or personal belongings were found on either of the deceased men at the crash site. While police officers recovered a mobile phone from the victims, the device was switched off, making it difficult to retrieve any immediate contacts or identification details.
