Two Schoolboys Drown in Cattle Shed Water Tank in Aarey Colony, Goregaon East

Two schoolboys drowned on Friday while swimming in a water tank located at a cattle shed near Modern Bakery Junction in Aarey Colony, Goregaon East, Mumbai.

The deceased have been identified as 15-year-old Zaib Patel and 13-year-old Nakhib Patel. Both were students of Jogeshwari Gunfa English Medium Secondary School, where Zaib was studying in Class 10 and Nakhib was in Class 9.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred near Gautam Nagar at Modern Bakery Junction in Aarey Colony and was reported by C.P. Control at around 11:55 am on August 21.

Following the alert, emergency response teams rushed to the site to initiate a rescue operation. Personnel from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the Mumbai Fire Brigade, local police, 108 Ambulance services, and BMC ward staff were deployed to the cattle shed.

The two boys were eventually retrieved from the water tank and rushed to the Trauma Care Hospital. Doctors at the hospital declared both boys brought dead upon arrival. The Assistant Medical Officer of HBT Hospital later informed authorities of the deaths at approximately 1:48 pm.

The school principal, identified as Dhumal, confirmed that both Zaib and Nakhib were students at the school and stated that they had reportedly been absent from classes on Friday.

Police officials are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the incident, and further details into the matter are awaited.
