Two Tribal Girls Drown in Pond Near Ramdharenshwar Picnic Spot in Alibaug

Two young tribal girls died after drowning in Pazar talao near the Ramdharenshwar picnic spot in the periphery of Bamnoli and Vaishet villages near Alibaug on Monday afternoon. A third girl who was playing alongside them narrowly escaped the water body.
The victims have been identified as eight-year-old Ashika Pawar and three-year-old Sanjana Pawar. According to local reports, the tragedy unfolded when the two girls lost their balance and fell into the pond while playing.
The three children were playing near the pond during the afternoon hours, situated a distance away from their homes and out of public view. Following the fall of the two girls into the water, the surviving child managed to escape and immediately alerted nearby villagers about what had happened.
Upon hearing about the incident, local villagers rushed to the scene and initiated a search operation in the water. They eventually retrieved the bodies of both girls from the pond.
The bodies were subsequently taken to the civil hospital in Alibaug, where post-mortem procedures were conducted. The local police have registered an accidental death report in connection with the incident.
The Ramdharenshwar area is a popular leisure and picnic location known for its natural surroundings set among hillocks near the township. The pond has witnessed previous fatalities, with a youth having drowned at the same site recently.
