Uddhav and Raj Thackeray Lead South Mumbai March Against CEC Gyanesh Kumar

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Sunday, October 4, 2026, led a joint protest march in south Mumbai against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the electoral roll revision.

The demonstration was organised under the banner of the Virat Garjana Morcha. Participating opposition parties alleged lapses in the electoral process and demanded the immediate removal or resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner.

The march commenced at Metro Cinema in south Mumbai and proceeded towards the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters. Leaders and party workers from the Congress and the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (SP) also joined the procession alongside Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS members.

The joint demonstration marked a rare unified public display by opposition groups in the city, with participants rallying along the south Mumbai route to seek accountability and demand safeguarding of the electoral process.
