Ulhasnagar RTO Agent Duped of Rs 11 Lakh With Fake Income Tax Job Promise for Son

Ulhasnagar RTO Agent Duped of Rs 11 Lakh With Fake Income Tax Job Promise for Son

The police have registered a criminal case against two individuals for allegedly cheating a 60-year-old Regional Transport Office (RTO) agent from Ulhasnagar in Thane district of Rs 11 lakh. The accused allegedly duped the victim by promising to secure a government job in the Income Tax department for his son.

According to local police officials, the fraudulent scheme began last year in 2025. The two accused approached the victim, who is a resident of the Ulhasnagar township in the Thane district of Maharashtra. During their meeting, the accused offered to secure a job in the Income Tax (I-T) department for the victim's son.

To facilitate the employment process, the accused demanded a payment of Rs 11 lakh from the RTO agent. Trusting their assurances, the victim agreed to the deal and handed over the requested Rs 11 lakh to the two individuals.

To convince the victim that the job process was moving forward successfully, the accused later showed him a fake selection list. This forged document was used to mislead the 60-year-old agent into believing his son had been selected for the government position.

However, the promised job never materialized. After receiving the full amount of Rs 11 lakh, the accused failed to provide the job in the Income Tax department for the victim's son. Furthermore, when the victim realized that the promise was false and demanded his money back, the accused failed to return the funds.

Following the realization of the fraud, a complaint was lodged with the local police. The police have officially booked the two accused individuals for cheating. The registration of the case against the duo was confirmed by police officials on July 19, 2026. The police are currently investigating the matter further.
