Uprooted Tree Crushes Cars and Blocks Road in Bandra East
A large tree was uprooted by heavy rain and strong winds in Bandra East on Sunday, collapsing onto several parked vehicles and blocking a local road. The incident drew immediate response from firefighters, civic rescue personnel, and local residents who worked to clear the debris. No injuries were reported from the collapse.
The tree fell amid relentless rainfall, crushing multiple cars parked along the street. Visuals from the scene showed thick branches and heavy foliage completely covering a white sedan, a red SUV, and other vehicles.
Before emergency personnel arrived at the spot, bystanders carrying umbrellas gathered to inspect the damage. Some local residents attempted to clear the path by removing smaller branches from the road.
Firefighters and civic rescue teams quickly arrived at the site to launch a clearance operation. Their primary focus was to cut through the massive tree, remove the debris, assess the damage to the affected vehicles, and ensure the road was safe for commuters to restore normal traffic movement.
The incident occurred as Mumbai and its neighbouring regions faced intense monsoon conditions. Heavy rainfall on Sunday led to widespread waterlogging, flooding, and multiple tree fall incidents across the city.
In addition to the local disruption in Bandra East, strong gusty winds slowed traffic movement across the city. Commuters on the Western Express Highway faced significant delays, with vehicles moving at a slow pace due to poor visibility and rain-related disruptions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has retained a Red Alert for Mumbai and adjoining districts, forecasting continued heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. Local authorities have urged residents to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during intense rain spells, and stay away from trees, hoardings, and other structures that could become unstable in the strong winds.
