Uprooted Trees Trap Construction Workers Near Shivaji Park in Dadar

Strong winds and heavy rain uprooted five towering trees on Monday afternoon, trapping a group of construction workers at their worksite on Dr Madhukar B Raut Road, near Shivaji Park in Dadar West. The severe weather conditions caused panic in the Dadar West locality as the massive trees crashed down in rapid succession.

The incident occurred during a storm in July 2026. Powerful wind gusts and torrential rain lashed the area, leaving the workers at the Dr Madhukar B Raut Road construction site with nowhere to run. With the storm raging and no vehicles in sight, the situation quickly became tense for the laborers, who had been working at the spot for the past few months.

Deepak Pal, one of the construction workers trapped at the site, described the moments leading up to their confinement. According to Pal, the workers watched from the site as the trees began to fall in the lane outside.

"We saw four trees crashing down in succession in the lane outside the worksite," Pal said. "We grew worried as soon as we saw the fifth tree fall outside the spot where we have been working for the past few months."

With the fifth tree blocking the exit and the storm continuing to rage above their heads, the workers sought shelter. The group retreated into an underground tank at the construction site to protect themselves from the elements. While sheltered inside the tank, the workers posed for a selfie as the storm continued outside.

No injuries were reported, but the successive collapse of five towering trees created a hazardous environment and temporarily trapped the workforce at the Dadar West site.
