US Ambassador Sergio Gor Meets CM Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai to Boost Ties

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the Chief Minister's official residence in Mumbai during a visit on August 18 to discuss strengthening bilateral economic and strategic cooperation.
During the visit, Gor delivered a special address at The Lalit for the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) National Convention, which was held under the theme "Redefining the India-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership." He praised Fadnavis as an "incredible" and "visionary" leader who has fostered a welcoming climate for American investment in the state.
"It’s always incredible coming back to Mumbai. It’s a global city, it’s on the map unlike a lot of other places around the world," Gor said, noting that both the city and the leadership of the Chief Minister contribute to Maharashtra's global profile. He added that the United States is firmly invested in Maharashtra and will continue to pursue mutually beneficial opportunities.
The bilateral discussions between Gor and Fadnavis focused on expanding opportunities for American businesses across several key sectors, including technology, energy, and healthcare. Gor characterized the meeting as very productive and highlighted Maharashtra's status as a major economic hub offering substantial scope for foreign collaboration.
Gor also congratulated the Maharashtra government on its recently signed Memorandum of Understanding with the Cleveland Clinic to establish an integrated health ecosystem, named 'MediCity', in Mumbai.
The state continues to seek expanded international partnerships and foreign direct investment, particularly in emerging technologies, healthcare, and energy sectors. Gor noted that he looked forward to future visits to Mumbai and sustained engagement between the United States and Maharashtra.
