Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur to Star in David Dhawan's Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai
The upcoming Bollywood romantic comedy 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai', directed by David Dhawan, is set for a 2026 release. The film features an ensemble cast starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles, alongside actor Ali Asgar in a supporting role. The production has commenced its promotional campaign, releasing early details of the film's plot and soundtrack.
The storyline centers on Jaswinder, also known as Jass, played by Varun Dhawan. Jass works as a wedding photographer, a profession that leads him to meet Bani, played by Mrunal Thakur, while photographing her sister's wedding. Bani is charmed by Jass, and the two eventually marry. However, their relationship sours five years into the marriage due to a fundamental disagreement over starting a family. Jass desires to have a child, while Bani is strongly opposed to the idea, prompting her to file for a divorce.
The legal proceedings bring the couple before a judge, portrayed by Ali Asgar. In an attempt to encourage a reconciliation between the spouses, the judge decides to annul the marriage after a six-month period. Despite this window, Bani remains resolute in her decision to separate permanently from Jass.
Following the emotional breakdown of his marriage, a heartbroken Jass relocates to London to start a new life. In London, he crosses paths with Preet, played by Pooja Hegde, and the two begin dating. Their relationship progresses smoothly until a sudden turn of events disrupts their lives. Bani arrives unexpectedly at Jass's residence in London and announces that she is pregnant with his child. Compounding the situation, Preet reveals on the very same day that she is also expecting a child with Jass.
The film's promotional roll-out includes the release of a featured track titled "Chunnari Chunnari – Let’s Go," which showcases Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde. A total of 63 promotional photos and eight videos, including movie stills of Pooja Hegde, have been prepared for the film's marketing campaign leading up to its theatrical debut.
