Vasai Road to Virar Train Services Resume After Heavy Rain Disruption

Suburban train services between Vasai Road and Virar on the Western Railway network resumed in the early hours of Tuesday, following a temporary suspension caused by heavy rainfall and severe waterlogging. The resumption of services on this crucial corridor, which connects Mumbai with Palghar district, brought relief to thousands of daily commuters after intense monsoon showers disrupted operations on Monday.

According to Western Railway, the first local train for Churchgate departed from Virar at 3:57 am on Tuesday after the tracks were cleared. The suspension on Monday had severely affected one of the busiest suburban railway corridors in the region, leaving many commuters stranded as relentless rainfall flooded the tracks.

Although the tracks have been cleared and services have officially resumed, Western Railway officials stated that trains across the network are still running with delays. All Western Railway suburban local services between Churchgate and Dahanu Road were running 10 to 15 minutes late on Tuesday. The railway administration has advised passengers to plan their journeys accordingly.

In an official statement shared on the social media platform X, Western Railway addressed the disruption. The statement noted that Mumbai local train services between Vasai Road and Virar were restored after the temporary disruption caused by heavy rainfall. The railway administration expressed sincere regret for the inconvenience caused to valued passengers during this period and thanked commuters for their patience and cooperation. The authorities added that passenger safety remains their highest priority.

The disruption of the suburban railway network occurred amidst widespread rainfall that severely impacted rail, road, and bus transport systems across the entire Mumbai Metropolitan Region over the past two days.

As Mumbai and its surrounding regions continue to recover from the impact of the intense monsoon showers, railway authorities have advised passengers to stay updated on official announcements. Heavy rainfall is expected to continue in parts of Mumbai and its adjoining districts, which could further influence transport operations.
