Vashi family donates organs of 22-year-old Madhuri Jaiswal to save three lives

A 22-year-old woman from Vashi Gaon who was declared brain stem dead has saved the lives of three patients through organ donation at MGM New Bombay Hospital in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. Following her family's consent, her heart, liver, and kidneys were successfully retrieved and transplanted to patients on July 17.
The deceased, identified as Madhuri Vijay Jaiswal, had allegedly attempted suicide by hanging at her residence in Vashi Gaon on the evening of July 13. Her family members administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the scene before rushing her to MGM New Bombay Hospital, where she was admitted in cardiac arrest.
Although doctors managed to restore her heartbeat after prolonged resuscitation efforts, subsequent CT scans revealed severe cerebral edema. She had suffered irreversible brain injury caused by prolonged oxygen deprivation.
Madhuri was placed in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit for intensive treatment. However, she showed no signs of neurological recovery. Two apnea tests were conducted by medical teams on July 15 and July 16, which confirmed brain stem death in accordance with standard medical protocols.
Following counselling by the hospital's transplant team, Madhuri’s father, Vijay Jaiswal, and other family members gave their consent to donate her organs. Her father explained that the decision was made after doctors told them that while she could not be revived, her organs could save other lives.
On July 17, doctors successfully retrieved her heart, liver, and both kidneys. These organs were immediately allocated to patients on the waiting list for life-saving transplants. Doctors noted that her small intestine was also evaluated but was found unsuitable for transplantation.
An officer from the Vashi Police Station confirmed that the family voluntarily consented to the organ donation. In his official statement, Vijay Jaiswal stated that he had no suspicion or complaint against anyone regarding his daughter's death. The Vashi Police have completed all necessary legal formalities.
