Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has revealed the official plot details for his upcoming film, Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Past, which features a protagonist who flees Mumbai for a remote hill station. The horror-drama follows a filmmaker who encounters supernatural occurrences in a mysterious palace.
The film stars Mimoh Chakraborty as Devadutt "Dev" Choudhary, a reputed director preparing for the release of his movie, Laila Majnu. Dev is in love with his film's lead actress, Sonali, played by Aradhna. However, days before the release, Dev discovers Sonali with the film's male lead.
Devastated by the discovery, Dev abruptly leaves Mumbai without informing anyone. He is accompanied by his cousin, Titu, played by Gaurav Bajpai. The two travel until they reach a peaceful hill station called Maniktal, where Dev decides to rent a property to find solace.
A local broker shows Dev the Maniktal Palace, and he decides to lease the property. Upon moving in, Dev and Titu notice unusual architectural details, including a right wing where all doors and windows are shut, while the left wing remains wide open. The palace caretaker, Trilok, played by Hemant Pandey, informs them that the right wing has been locked for decades and the keys are missing.
The plot intensifies during Dev's first night at the palace. Awakened by an eerie noise, he finds the doors to the locked right wing wide open. Upon entering, Dev encounters an evil spirit and a girl named Sunheri, played by Chetna Pande. Dev witnesses the spirit harming Sunheri and soon realizes she belongs to an entirely different era.
