Visually Impaired Dhristiheen Govinda Pathak Forms Pyramids From Dadar to Thane

Dhristiheen Govinda Pathak, a troupe composed solely of visually impaired participants organized under the Nayan Foundation, formed human pyramids on Saturday, September 5, to mark its 13th year participating in the Dahi Handi festival, concluding its route in Thane.

The group, recognized as Mumbai's first all-visually impaired Govinda pathak, traveled across both Mumbai and Thane for the event. Organizers hired two buses to transport all 35 members to various pandals along their planned route, which began in Dadar and wrapped up in Thane.

Devendra Ponnalagar, president of the Nayan Foundation and a member of Dhristiheen Govinda Pathak since its first year, credited extensive preparation for their successful showings at the pandals.

"We had a very good time this year as well, all our members had done very well during training sessions carried out over the past few months, and that showed on Saturday, as we participated easily with great coordination," Ponnalagar said.

A member of the troupe also pointed to the group's coordination and their deliberate decision not to overexert participants, which helped ensure a steady and impressive showing across their appearances.
