Western Railway Reshuffles Mumbai Suburban Timetable With New Dadar Services
Western Railway has rolled out a revised suburban timetable across the Mumbai network, introducing direct connectivity from Dadar to Dahanu Road and extending morning services to Churchgate as part of a system-wide schedule reshuffle.
Under the new schedule, an integrated Dadar-Dahanu Road service departs Dadar at 17.22 and reaches Dahanu Road at 19.30. Additionally, the morning 08.23 Virar-Dadar suburban local has been extended to Churchgate, where it is scheduled to arrive at 09.48, providing commuters with a direct non-AC option into south Mumbai.
The broader timetable overhaul maintains Western Railway's total daily volume of 1,414 suburban services while reallocating paths, halts, and operating patterns. The adjustments are designed to ease peak-hour congestion, improve punctuality, and optimize existing resources without expanding the overall number of trains.
As part of peak-hour crowd management, the 18.22 Churchgate-Virar AC service and the 19.05 Churchgate-Virar local will skip Borivli on a trial basis to curb cascading operational delays. Both trains will continue to halt at Dahisar, while an 18.28 AC local running six minutes behind the first service will halt at Borivli.
The revised schedule has also expanded weekday air-conditioned services from 145 to 147. The 17.28 Churchgate-Borivli and 18.24 Borivli-Churchgate services have been converted into AC locals, while the 10.24 Churchgate-Borivli AC slow train will now terminate at Goregaon.
Western Railway executed a service swap by replacing six low-demand or off-peak trains with six new services across the network. The updated timetable also incorporates late-night and additional connectivity routes, including the 07.46 Bhayandar-Virar, 22.14 Borivli-Bhayandar, 22.51 Borivli-Virar, 23.51 Virar-Borivli, and 00.28 Borivli-Bhayandar services.
