Woman Arrested in Virar for Attacking Husband's Second Wife With Knife and Trident

A 31-year-old woman was arrested in Virar after she allegedly attacked her husband's second wife with a knife and a trident at their residence in Mayfair Garden on Sunday. The injured woman, identified as 22-year-old Komal Saroj, was rescued by the police and admitted to a nearby hospital.
According to the Bolinj police, the accused, Laxmi Prasad, was living with her husband in the Mayfair Garden housing complex. Her husband had reportedly married Komal Saroj in secret in July 2024 without informing Laxmi.
The altercation began on Sunday when Komal arrived unexpectedly at the residence. Her sudden arrival triggered a heated confrontation between the two women.
During the dispute, Laxmi allegedly locked the main entrance door from the inside and attacked Komal using a knife and a trident. To escape the assault, the injured victim managed to lock herself inside an inner bedroom and dialed the police emergency helpline number 112 for assistance.
Upon receiving the emergency call, personnel from the Bolinj police station reached the apartment, broke open the door, and rescued Komal. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, where officials confirmed that her condition is currently stable.
Following the rescue, the Bolinj police took Laxmi Prasad into custody and registered a formal case against her. She has been booked under Sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
