Woman dies after being run over by Valsad Passenger train near Virar

A woman died on Thursday morning after she was run over by a passenger train while crossing the railway tracks between Vaitarna and Virar. The incident, which occurred near kilometre marker 62/15, resulted in brief disruptions to local suburban rail services.

According to railway officials, the woman was struck by Train No. 59024, also known as the Valsad Passenger. The impact of the collision was fatal.

Following the incident, the Valsad Passenger train was detained on the tracks starting at 8:25 AM. Railway staff stationed at Virar were dispatched to the location to manage the emergency.

The Virar railway staff rushed to the spot near kilometre marker 62/15 to carry out rescue and clearance operations. The presence of the train and the emergency response team on the tracks caused brief delays for other suburban train services operating along the route.

Railway officials stated that the accident occurred when the woman was allegedly crossing the tracks as the Valsad Passenger train was passing. The identity of the deceased woman has not been released.

Clearance operations were conducted by the railway staff to ensure that the tracks were clear and that normal train services could safely resume. The disruption to the suburban rail network was resolved following the completion of the work by the railway personnel.
