Woman gets 22 stitches after falling tin sheet strikes her in Vasai

A woman was hospitalized with a severe head injury after a tin sheet was blown loose by strong winds and fell on her in the Vasai-Virar area of Vasai. The accident occurred on the evening of July 5 at approximately 18:30 during a period of rain and gusty winds.

The victim, who has been identified as Deepa Amit Dhinoja, was walking on a public footpath when the heavy metal sheet suddenly struck her. CCTV footage of the horrifying incident has since emerged, capturing the exact moment of the impact.

In the recorded CCTV footage, the tin sheet can be seen getting completely dislodged and blown away by the force of the strong winds amidst the rain. Dhinoja was walking along the footpath when, without warning, the large metal sheet came falling down directly onto her.

At the time of the accident, another individual was standing just behind Dhinoja on the footpath. This bystander managed to narrowly escape being hit by the flying metal sheet as it crashed down.

According to reports, the impact of the falling sheet was partially mitigated by a structure at the scene. A projecting awning from a nearby shop was positioned at the spot of the accident. This awning caught some of the weight of the debris, preventing the flying tin sheet from striking Dhinoja with its full force and significantly reducing the severity of the impact.

Immediately after the accident, the injured Dhinoja was rushed to Ravi Hospital for emergency medical attention.

Upon her arrival at the hospital, medical staff treated Dhinoja for a deep head wound sustained during the incident. The severe injury required a total of 22 stitches. Dhinoja is currently undergoing further treatment at Ravi Hospital, and medical authorities have confirmed that she is now out of danger.
