Woman Uses Pepper Spray on Passengers During Seat Fight on Kalyan-CSMT Local Train

A dispute over seats in a first-class ladies' coach of a Kalyan-CSMT fast local train escalated into a physical altercation on Thursday morning when a woman passenger used pepper spray on fellow commuters. The incident, which occurred during the busy morning rush hour, triggered widespread panic inside the train compartment as it traveled from Kalyan.

According to Central Railway officials, the altercation took place on the 8:33 am 15-coach fast local train heading from Kalyan to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). The confrontation involved two distinct groups of women commuters: one group boarding from Dombivli and another boarding from Kalyan.

The sequence of events began when four women passengers boarded the first-class ladies' coach at Dombivli station. This boarding occurred before the train reached Kalyan. Upon entering the compartment, the four passengers occupied the available seats inside the coach.

When the train subsequently arrived at Kalyan station, a separate group of women commuters was waiting in queues on the platform. These passengers boarded the first-class ladies' coach expecting to find vacant seats, under the impression that they were boarding a train originating from that station.

Upon entering the compartment and finding the seats already occupied by the passengers who had boarded at Dombivli, a dispute arose. The discovery led to an immediate argument between the Kalyan-bound commuters and the Dombivli group of passengers.

The verbal exchange between the two groups of passengers quickly escalated into a physical scuffle inside the compartment. During the physical altercation, one of the women from the Dombivli group allegedly took out a pepper spray canister from her handbag. She then sprayed the chemical towards the women who had boarded the train at Kalyan.

The deployment of the pepper spray caused immediate panic among the passengers inside the coach. While the chemical spray created a chaotic situation inside the compartment, Central Railway officials confirmed that no serious injuries were reported among the commuters involved or nearby.
