Worker dies after falling from seventh floor of Dream Heaven Society in Nerul

A 40-year-old mobile tower maintenance worker died on Thursday afternoon after falling from the seventh floor of the Dream Heaven Society, located in Sector 25, Nerul, Navi Mumbai. The fatal incident occurred while the worker was carrying out precautionary maintenance work on the building's terrace.

The deceased has been identified as Shivkumar Jhinku Moraya, 40, a resident of Pawane village. Moraya was employed in the mobile tower maintenance division of Pratap Helicopters Company in Turbhe.

According to the police, Moraya had gone to the residential complex to cover the mobile tower with a tarpaulin as a precautionary measure ahead of the monsoon.

While climbing onto a metal shed on the building's terrace to secure the tarpaulin, Moraya reportedly lost his balance. He fell from the seventh floor of the building to the ground, sustaining fatal head injuries in the process.

Following the fall, Moraya was shifted to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Hospital in Vashi. Upon arrival at the hospital, he was declared dead by the attending medical staff.

The Nerul police have officially registered an accidental death report (ADR) regarding the incident. Officers have launched an active investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the worker's death.

A key aspect of the investigation is to verify if proper safety measures were in place. Police are examining whether the employer, Pratap Helicopters Company, had provided the required safety equipment to the worker. This includes checking for the provision of a safety harness, a helmet, and a lifeline rope, which are standard safety requirements for high-rise maintenance work.

"An accidental death report has been registered and further investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway," a Nerul police officer said.
