Worker Electrocuted During Pole Installation on Majalgaon Bypass Road

A 32-year-old worker died on the spot after receiving a severe electric shock while attempting to install an electric distribution pole on the bypass road in Majalgaon city, located in Maharashtra's Beed district. The incident occurred at around 1 pm when electricity allegedly resumed unexpectedly while work was underway.

The deceased has been identified as Sheikh Aawaz Pasha Deshmukh. According to reports, Deshmukh was part of a four-person crew engaged in installing a double-pole DP transformer along the Majalgaon city bypass road. The workers had reportedly been informed prior to the operation that the electricity supply in the area had been completely shut down to allow the work to proceed safely.

During the installation process, the team was using a crane to position the electric pole. Deshmukh was holding the pole when the electric current suddenly surged through the line at approximately 1 pm. Within just five seconds of the shock, Deshmukh died on the spot. Another worker who was present at the site narrowly escaped the fatal shock.

A video recording depicting the purported incident later surfaced on the internet and quickly went viral across social media platforms. The footage, which showed workers trying to maneuver the pole with the crane before the electrocution occurred, raised serious concerns among viewers regarding the safety of workers during such tasks.

Following the fatal event, police registered a case in connection with the incident. The case has been filed against four individuals associated with the electricity department, as well as contractor Dhairyasheel Bhagwat Thombare. Police have launched an investigation into the matter to determine how power was resumed while workers were on site. Further details in the case remain awaited.
