World Tribal Day Celebrated at Japtalai Ashram School in Gadchiroli

Students and staff at a private, aided primary and secondary Ashram School in Japtalai, located in Dhanora in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, celebrated World Tribal Day on August 9 with cultural programmes and dance performances.
The programme honoured tribal culture and highlighted calls for tribal empowerment. Students took part in the celebrations, watching and participating in the various dance presentations organised for the occasion.
Among the students present was eight-year-old Anu Koreti, who attended the performances alongside her older brother and sister. For Anu and her two older siblings enrolled at the residential institution, the school represents their primary path toward education and a future away from poverty.
The aided residential school in Japtalai serves the local Gond community, a Scheduled Tribe. Over the years, two generations of the Gond community have studied at the primary and secondary facility in Dhanora, relying on the institution as an essential gateway to formal education and empowerment.
