Worli Metro 3 Station Entry Closed Until July 7 After Rain Seepage

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. has temporarily closed Entry A2 at the Worli Metro 3 station from July 2 until July 7, 2026, following water seepage caused by heavy rainfall. The closure of this entry point on the fully underground Aqua Line—which connects major commercial hubs including the Bandra-Kurla Complex—has forced commuters to find alternative routes and raised safety concerns among passengers.
According to the MMRC, the affected entry point on the Glaxo side of the station, which includes an independent staircase and lift, was shut as a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety. While rectification work is carried out, the corporation has advised commuters to use Lift B2 or other operational station entrances, namely A1, B1, B3, and B4.
The temporary closure has drawn criticism from commuters, including prominent Mumbai doctor Ishwar Gilada, who shared his experience on social media. Dr. Gilada, who was traveling from Worli to the airport for a flight to Srinagar, stated that he had to descend four floors with luggage and negotiate an additional staircase because the lift was closed.
Dr. Gilada claimed that damaged wall panels and construction debris were lying on the staircase, creating a slipping hazard. He also alleged that a portion of the metro slab roof near the entrance had collapsed, leaving fallen debris on the floor and leaving very little space to walk inside that part of the station.
The 33.5-km fully underground Metro Line 3 was developed at an estimated cost of Rs 37,276 crore. The second phase, which extended services to Worli, opened in May 2025. Designed to improve north-south connectivity, the corridor links key areas including Nariman Point, Cuffe Parade, Kalbadevi, and Bandra.
