Youth Congress Protests Outside Minister's House Over Thane TET Paper Leak

Members of the Mumbai Youth Congress staged a protest outside the official residence of Maharashtra School Education Minister Dada Bhuse in south Mumbai on Sunday, June 28, 2026, demanding his resignation following the postponement of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) due to a paper leak busted in Thane district.

Led by Mumbai Youth Congress president Zeenat Shabreen, the protesters gathered opposite Mantralaya, the State Secretariat, and raised slogans demanding the minister's resignation on moral grounds. The demonstration followed the sudden postponement of the TET 2026 exam on Saturday, June 27, 2026, just a day before it was scheduled to take place across the state.

The exam was put on hold after police in Thane district discovered that a portion of the question paper had been leaked. Following the discovery, Thane police arrested three individuals in connection with the breach.

Addressing the gathered protesters on Sunday, Shabreen alleged that examination irregularities have become a recurring feature under the BJP-led government. She demanded an impartial probe into the TET paper leak and strict action against those involved.

The Youth Congress further alleged that repeated examination paper leaks, including the TET breach and the earlier NEET controversy, have jeopardised the future of lakhs of students. According to the youth wing, these repeated failures reflect the state government's inability to ensure a fair examination process.

Despite a heavy police deployment in the area, the protesters claimed they successfully reached the minister's residence. Police subsequently detained Shabreen and several other Youth Congress workers during the agitation.

The Youth Congress has warned that it will intensify its agitation across the state until those responsible for the alleged TET paper leak are brought to face the law and the affected students receive justice.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the paper leak. The SIT will be headed by Thane Joint Commissioner of Police Panjabrao Ugale.
