Abu Azmi Protests TET Paper Leak At Vidhan Bhavan As Three Suspects Are Arrested

On Monday, Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi staged a protest at Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai against the alleged Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak, accusing the Maharashtra government of failing to secure the examination scheduled for June 28. The protest took place amid the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
Azmi, accompanied by other party leaders and workers, displayed a banner with slogans targeting the ruling administration. The banner read "Paper Leak Sarkar Weak" and "Playing with the future of children." The message highlighted recent paper leak controversies, specifically referencing NEET, CBSE, and the TET. Several opposition leaders joined the protest, accusing the government of failing to prevent the leak and demanding immediate accountability.
Parallel to the political protests, law enforcement officials have made progress in their investigation into the leak. Police have arrested three suspects allegedly linked to the racket. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rajeev Kumar Sao, 45, and Akash Kumar, 30, both residents of Bihar, and Dheeraj Balraj Singh, 28, a resident of Haryana.
The three accused were produced before the Bhiwandi District and Additional Sessions Court on Sunday. The court remanded them to police custody until July 16 to allow for further interrogation.
A formal case has been registered at the Kongaon Police Station in Bhiwandi under Crime Register No. 281/2026. The charges invoke Sections 318(4), 316(5), and 61, among other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Following the registration of the case, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to track down the network. SIT teams are currently conducting searches and intelligence-gathering operations across multiple states, including Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, and West Bengal.
According to investigating officials, at least five accused are believed to be involved in the racket. While three suspects are now in custody, the search for the remaining two is currently underway. Investigators stated that the interrogation of the arrested suspects may reveal more details about the scale of the paper leak operation, and they expect to make more arrests as the probe continues.
