Animated Hindi Film Return Of The Jungle Released In Mumbai

MUMBAI — The animated Hindi feature film "Return of the Jungle," directed by acclaimed animator Vaibhav Kumaresh, officially released in theatres on May 29, 2026. The 1-hour and 36-minute adventure film offers a wholesome, kid-friendly story rooted in traditional Indian storytelling.
The film features a cast of actors including Surendra Bhatia, Manish Bhawan, Arav Bhatia, Saurav Chakraborty, and Vaibhav Kumaresh. The plot focuses on a young boy named Mihir and his group of school friends who are constantly targeted by the most feared bully in their school.
Unable to confront the bully directly, the children seek guidance from their grandfather, whom they affectionately call Thatha. Through a series of Panchatantra-inspired jungle stories, Thatha teaches the children lessons about courage, empathy, friendship, and wisdom. These stories help the children find peaceful and clever ways to outwit the bully and restore harmony in their lives.
Director Vaibhav Kumaresh, known for creating popular animated works such as "Simpoo" and "Lamput," designed the film to combine childhood nostalgia with contemporary school-life struggles. Kumaresh and his animation team created a vibrant visual world that blends modern Indian life with imaginative jungle landscapes.
The film has been noted for its distinct character designs, where each supporting character is given a unique personality and charm. Rather than leaning on Western templates, "Return of the Jungle" embraces Indian cultural traditions and bedtime story heritages, evoking the warmth of stories narrated by grandparents.
Critics gave the film a 3.0 rating, praising its fluid animation and emotional warmth. While reviewers noted that the film does not reinvent the animation genre, they highlighted its success in delivering a warm, engaging experience that younger audiences and families are likely to cherish.
