Bhiwandi Police Arrest Three Men, Bust Rs 1.5 Crore MahaTET Paper Leak

The Bhiwandi police arrested three men and seized four sets of leaked MahaTET question papers in the Kongaon area of Bhiwandi on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The arrest, which took place around 11:00 AM, thwarted an alleged Rs 1.5 crore deal to sell the leaked papers. The subsequent cancellation of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) forced numerous aspirants, some of whom had travelled up to 200 kilometres to reach their examination centres, to return home.
The operation was initiated after the police received a tip-off that a group was arriving from Delhi to sell the examination papers. In response, a police team laid a trap in the Kongaon locality. Around 11:00 AM, three individuals arrived at the spot and were immediately detained by the police.
During a search of the suspects, officers recovered four sets of the question paper. The Education Department was brought in to verify the documents and confirmed that they were indeed the authentic papers prepared for the Sunday examination.
According to Additional Commissioner of Police Ashok Dudhe, the accused had demanded Rs 1.5 crore for the leaked question papers. Dudhe explained that the police acted swiftly upon receiving information about the group's plans to sell the papers in Kongaon ahead of the scheduled Sunday test.
"We received information that some people would be coming to Kongaon to sell tomorrow’s TET examination paper," Additional Commissioner of Police Ashok Dudhe said. "A trap was laid, and around 11 am, three persons arrived. During the search, four sets of the question paper were recovered. The Education Department verified that these were the actual papers for Sunday’s examination."
The revelation of the leak prompted the immediate cancellation of the MahaTET examination. This decision caused widespread disappointment among aspirants who had travelled long distances, with some journeying up to 200 kilometres to their respective exam centres, only to find the test cancelled.
