BMC Appoints EY as Consultant for Participate Mumbai Initiative

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Standing Committee on Friday approved the appointment of Ernst & Young (EY) as a consultant for the 'Participate Mumbai' initiative. This collaboration is aimed at supporting and implementing the civic program, which focuses on enhancing citizen engagement and participation across Mumbai.
Under the newly approved partnership, EY will act as the consultant to help manage and drive the 'Participate Mumbai' initiative. The program features a comprehensive and integrated digital platform that has been created to bring together citizens, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), local groups, and the corporate sector in Mumbai.
According to the civic body, the initiative was developed to address a common obstacle in community service. The BMC noted that many individuals are willing to contribute to social welfare but lack awareness about the specific challenges the city faces. Many residents also do not know how they can participate or how to utilise their skills, time, and resources to help.
The 'Participate Mumbai' initiative aims to solve this problem by providing citizens with an easy, streamlined opportunity to engage in various social activities. Through the digital platform, individuals can choose to participate in programs that align with their personal interests, skills, and availability.
The initiative will cover a variety of civic and social welfare activities. These include cleanliness drives, tree plantation campaigns, health camps, educational support programmes, and awareness initiatives. By connecting willing volunteers and organisations with these campaigns, the BMC and EY plan to foster greater public participation in addressing Mumbai's local challenges.
