Pune Broker Rescued After Falling 200 Feet Into Tamhini Ghat Valley

A 47-year-old Pune-based real estate broker was rescued after accidentally slipping 200 feet down a valley in the Tamhini ghat stretch under Mangaon taluka, Raigad. The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on a Friday.
The victim, identified as Sandesh Hadvale, is a resident of Mulshi. Hadvale and his driver were traveling back to Pune from Chiplun in Ratnagiri when they stopped along the highway.
According to the local police, Hadvale got down from his car to attend nature's call. He allegedly crossed the gap between the roadside safety walls and lost his balance, slipping into the deep valley due to the darkness. The fall caused Hadvale to sustain massive fractures in his right leg, along with several other injuries.
Upon receiving an alert from the driver, the Mangaon police reached the spot at 3:00 a.m. A rescue operation was quickly initiated, involving ten members from two different rescue teams. This included the Sahyadri Vanyajeev Rakshanarth Samajik Sanstha from Kolad, led by Sagar Dahimbekar.
The teams faced significant hurdles during the operation in the dark. Constable Yuvraj Dahiphale noted that an adventure sports rope brought by the Vira Patnus rescue team fell short of reaching the stranded broker. This prompted the deployment of the second rescue team to assist.
The combined efforts of both rescue teams and the police culminated in Hadvale being safely pulled out of the valley by 5:30 a.m. Dahimbekar described the rescue as a tough operation due to the pitch darkness.
While an ambulance was waiting at the scene, Hadvale preferred to travel to a hospital in Pune in his own car, citing pre-existing ligament issues. He is currently undergoing treatment there. Local police suspect that Hadvale was under the influence of alcohol during the incident.
