CM Devendra Fadnavis Urges Caution Amid Heavy Rain Alerts In MMR And Pune-Nashik Belt

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis issued a public appeal urging citizens across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and the Pune–Nashik belt to avoid unnecessary travel. This caution comes in response to ongoing adverse weather conditions, with heavy rains and storms affecting multiple parts of the state.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast to continue until July 6. Chief Minister Fadnavis stated that people should strictly follow the official weather alerts issued by the department. He noted that stepping out only when necessary would help reduce the risk of accidents during this period of severe weather.

To ensure public safety, the state government has mobilized its resources. Disaster response teams are actively monitoring the situation on the ground across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and the Pune-Nashik belt. The state administration is also issuing regular alerts to keep residents informed of any immediate hazards.

In addition to addressing the weather emergency, Chief Minister Fadnavis spoke about the condition of the state's highways. He specifically addressed reports concerning potholes on the newly built infrastructure of the Pune-Mumbai Expressway. The reports focused on the Connecting Link, which is part of the expressway's Missing Link project.

Fadnavis described the reports of potholes on this newly constructed Connecting Link as "amplified." However, he emphasized that the state government is not ignoring the issue. The Chief Minister promised that any genuine infrastructure issues on the newly built project would be thoroughly reviewed and fixed by the concerned authorities.

With the adverse weather expected to last through July 6, the state government continues to monitor both the weather patterns and the state of public infrastructure. Citizens are advised to remain cautious, keep track of official updates, and limit travel across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and the Pune–Nashik belt until the weather conditions improve.
