Congress Leader Navin Singh Rides Horse in Kalyan Protest Against Rising Inflation

On May 30, 2026, the Kalyan District Congress staged a unique demonstration in Kalyan, Maharashtra, to protest against rising fuel prices and inflation. Led by Kalyan District Congress president Navin Singh, the protest aimed to highlight the increasing burden of rising costs on common citizens.

During the demonstration, Singh rode a horse from the Kalyan railway station to the local tehsildar’s office. While riding the horse through the city streets, Singh distributed Melody chocolates to members of the public.

Congress leaders stated that the symbolic gesture of riding a horse and handing out chocolates was designed to draw public attention to the sharp rise in the prices of petrol, diesel, and other essential commodities. Party workers alleged that the government has failed to provide relief to the common man as inflation continues to affect household budgets.

The protest march passed through several key areas of Kalyan before culminating at the tehsildar’s office. At the office, Congress workers raised slogans against the Centre and submitted an official memorandum demanding measures to curb inflation.

In an address to party workers and supporters, Singh claimed that soaring fuel prices had triggered a chain reaction across the economy. He argued that these rising fuel costs have pushed up transportation expenses, which in turn increased the prices of daily necessities. Singh alleged that the government has failed to effectively tackle inflation and urged authorities to reduce taxes on petrol and diesel to provide immediate relief to citizens.

A large number of Congress office-bearers and party workers participated in the agitation. Among the prominent attendees alongside Singh were Iftikhar Khan, Azam Sheikh, Dharmendra Pandey, and Shakeel Sheikh, along with several women workers.
