Digha Youth Booked by Sanpada RPF Over Viral Video Threatening Local Trains

A youth from Digha has been booked by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Sanpada after a viral social media video showed him allegedly attempting to throw stones at passing Mumbai local trains and making obscene gestures at commuters.
The viral footage showed the individual standing near the railway tracks, appearing to aim stones toward moving local trains while making offensive gestures. The act sparked widespread safety concerns, as hurling objects at running trains can lead to severe passenger injuries and major accidents.
Following the circulation of the undated clip online, Thane railway police took notice and traced the youth's identity. Senior Police Inspector Dharmendra Aware stated that the individual was subsequently booked by RPF Sanpada under relevant sections of the Railways Act.
After police initiated action, the youth released an apology video on social media with folded hands, stating that the entire stunt was staged purely for creating a reel. He claimed that he did not actually target the train and instead threw the stone aside, pretending to launch it toward the carriages.
In his video, the youth asked for forgiveness and promised not to repeat the act, stating that something like this would never happen again.
Police officials continue to examine the recorded footage and investigate the broader circumstances of the event. Investigators are also determining whether any trains or commuters were directly targeted or placed in danger during the stunt.
The case highlights ongoing issues regarding individuals performing hazardous stunts near railway tracks to generate social media content, despite repeated warnings from authorities regarding the strict legal penalties and severe safety risks involved.
