FDA Suspends Food Licence of MCA's Bandra-Kurla Complex Facility

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Saturday suspended the food business licence of the Mumbai Cricket Association's (MCA) facility in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), forcing the immediate closure of all restaurants and bars operating on the premises.

The regulatory action against the BKC facility was carried out by the FDA team led by Tukaram Mundhe as part of ongoing enforcement across hospitality and club venues in the city.

Following the suspension, the MCA Club management issued a formal communication to its members detailing the operational status of the complex. The club stated that all food and beverage operations had been halted, while sports amenities would continue to function as normal.

"Dear Associates, This is to inform you that, due to certain technical issues, all Food & Beverage services and restaurants will remain closed with immediate effect until further notice," the MCA Club wrote in its notice to members. "However, all sports facilities will continue to remain operational, including the gymnasium, swimming pool, lawn tennis courts, squash courts, pickleball courts, badminton courts, table tennis, pool tables and billiards. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding and cooperation."

The action at BKC follows a series of crackdowns across prominent establishments in Mumbai. On Friday, the FDA suspended the food business licence of The Bombay Presidency Radio Club and the registration certificate of Khar Gymkhana over alleged hygiene, structural, and food safety violations.

Additionally, the FDA suspended the licence of the McDonald's outlet in Colaba after authorities detected a live cockroach infestation inside the kitchen along with other regulatory violations.
