Government Chauffeur From Worli Village Dies by Suicide at Mumbai Airport

Pramod Jadhav, a 54-year-old chauffeur driving a government vehicle and resident of Worli Village, died by suicide at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Thursday morning, according to police.

The incident took place around 11.30 am. Police recovered a suicide note written in Marathi addressed to Jadhav's wife and daughter, in which he stated that he was depressed due to his chronic kidney ailment and requested that nobody be held responsible for his death.

Sahar police senior inspector Manoj Chalke said an accidental death report has been registered in connection with the case. Jadhav had been undergoing medical treatment for Stage 2 Chronic Kidney Disease for the past six months.

Jadhav served as one of two drivers stationed at the airport around the clock to pick up and drop government officials, including judges, registrars, and bureaucrats.

Investigators have requested CCTV footage from the airport authority to analyze Jadhav’s behaviour leading up to the incident.

A police officer noted that Jadhav's wife and college-going daughter informed investigators that they were aware of his depression regarding the illness, but did not expect him to take the extreme step.
