GRP Adds Weapon Charges in Mayank Lohar Train Murder Case Between Goregaon and Borivli

The Government Railway Police (GRP) has invoked additional charges under the Maharashtra Police Act against Roshan Suvarna, who stands accused of murdering co-passenger Mayank Lohar aboard a Mumbai local train between Goregaon and Borivli stations in June.
The new charges have been included as part of an 1,100-page chargesheet recently filed against Suvarna by investigators probing the fatal stabbing.
According to the police, the murder occurred on June 23 while the train was operating on the Western line between Goregaon and Borivli. Suvarna allegedly attacked Lohar with a large knife that he had been carrying with him, stabbing the co-passenger three times during the journey.
Police noted that a formal prohibitory order barring the carrying of weapons inside trains and across railway station premises was in effect between June 16 and June 30. Because Suvarna carried and used the weapon during this timeframe, authorities added the specific violations under the Maharashtra Police Act to the chargesheet.
Following the assault, Suvarna alighted from the train at Borivli railway station and dumped the knife in a nearby lane. A restaurant staff member subsequently spotted the discarded weapon in the lane outside the station and picked it up. The employee informed the restaurant manager, who then handed the knife over to the police.
The victim's post-mortem report concluded that the cause of death was hemorrhagic shock due to multiple stab injuries. A forensic analysis report on the recovered knife, which has also been submitted alongside the chargesheet, confirmed that the fatal injuries documented in the post-mortem report were possible with the seized weapon.
