Maharashtra FDA Seizes 3,958 kg of School Meal Supplies in Junnar

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized 3,958.4 kilograms of food supplies meant for school meals after inspecting an unlicensed warehouse at Kalwadi in Junnar taluka of Pune district.

The seized stock, valued at Rs 1,07,463, was intended for distribution under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman Yojana. Officials discovered that the supplies were being stored in and distributed from a facility operating without the required license.

According to an official release issued by FDA chief Tukaram Mundhe, the seizure was carried out following a surprise inspection conducted by the FDA's Pune Division on August 21.

Separately, the regulatory authority engaged in food safety awareness by training 200 meat sellers in Pune. The training session focused on proper hygiene standards, storage conditions, licensing norms, and safe handling practices as part of the state's 'Safe Food, Safe Medicine, Safe Maharashtra' campaign.
