Borivali Police Sub-Inspector Arrested by ACB for Accepting ₹1.30 Lakh Bribe

Borivali Police Sub-Inspector Arrested by ACB for Accepting ₹1.30 Lakh Bribe

A 31-year-old Sub-Inspector of Police posted at the Borivali Police Station was arrested on Monday evening after being caught red-handed by Anti-Corruption Bureau officials while accepting a bribe of ₹1.30 lakh. The officer was apprehended during a trap laid directly inside the police station premises.

The accused officer, identified as Dnyaneshwar Parade, had allegedly demanded the money from a 65-year-old complainant. Parade sought the bribe as a quid pro quo to cooperate in an ongoing investigation and to shield the senior citizen and his two sisters from imminent arrest in a case previously registered against them.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the senior citizen approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau and filed a formal written complaint on September 29. Following the submission of the complaint, ACB officials initiated a formal verification process the next day, on September 30.

During the verification process, ACB officials confirmed that Parade had originally demanded an amount of ₹1.50 lakh. However, following compromise negotiations between the parties, the sub-inspector agreed to settle for a reduced sum of ₹1.30 lakh.

Once the corrupt demand was substantiated through verification, the ACB laid a trap at the Borivali Police Station on Monday evening, October 5. Parade was caught red-handed while accepting the negotiated sum of ₹1.30 lakh from the complainant and was taken into custody by the bureau.
